Nearly 40 million people in the U.S. suffer from migraines. Our Kirk Gimenez interviewed Dr. Jennifer Buczyner; director of the Comprehensive Stroke Center at Jupiter Medical Center and, director of neurologist at Comprehensive Neurology of the Palm Beaches, to learn more on how Nurtec™ ODT can help. To learn more watch the interview or visit nurtec.com [nurtec.com].

Nearly 40 million people in the U.S. suffer from migraine; the World Health Organization classifies migraine as one of the 10 most disabling medical illnesses, yet it remains an invisible disease that is often overlooked and misunderstood.

Compounding the problem is patients often get misdiagnosed, as they complain of headaches to their physicians, yet in fact have migraine. And when they finally get a diagnosis, patients often discontinue or switch their first treatment and go on to cycle through numerous treatment options trying, and often failing, to find relief.

In addition to the emotional toll, the cost burden is huge as well. Migraine affects approximately 15% of the U.S. population with prevalence highest during peak employment years (25–55 years of age). Annual total costs for migraine in the U.S. are estimated at $27 billion and approximately 25% of ER visits for migraine were followed by a second ER visit for headache in less than six months.

Nurtec™ ODT orally disintegrating tablets is a prescription medicine for the acute treatment of migraine in adults. Nurtec ODT is not used as a preventive treatment of migraine. Do not take if you are allergic to Nurtec ODT or any of its ingredients. The most common side effect was nausea in 2% of patients.
