Cerveceria La Tropical mixes modern Miami culture with classic Cuban vibes. Located in the heart of Wynwood, you can find great beer and great food in a fun atmosphere.
Although the brewery opened in February, it has actually been around since 1888. La Tropical established the Cuban beer industry and grew to be the largest and most popular brewery on the island. It was originally founded by the great-great-grandfather of the current CEO, Manny Portuondo.
"La Tropical in Cuba was not just a brewery, it was part of the social fabric of Cuban culture," he says.
It originally was attached to 100 acres of land in the Havana Forest, creating a large beer garden for people to drink and socialize.
Currently, the location has a taproom, full-scale restaurant, botanical garden, and it's a fully functioning brewery. There are over 20 handcrafted beers available to try, including the flagship that's made with the same recipe from 1888. The menu offers Latin-Caribbean fusion tapas for you to enjoy as well.
Reservations are highly encouraged. Portuondo says in the six weeks they've been they've regularly had to turn away anywhere from 50 to 100 customers because they're so busy.
