Mayor of Miami-Dade Announces Initiatives for Getting Back to Normal

Mayor of Miami-Dade County Carlos Gimenez announced that there are two initiatives in the works for helping the county get back to normal.

Mayor Gimenez said that as soon as it practicable the county must begin to reopen the community, reestablish business, and recharge the economy. To do this, he introduced the "Moving to Normal" and "Economic Restoration" initiatives.

Moving to Normal will focus on rolling back restrictions that have been put in place due to COVID-19 in a way that does not jeopardize the health or well being of the most vulnerable populations.

Representatives from local governments, schools, businesses, religious leaders, the healthcare industry, and other community leaders will help create a plan.

On Wednesday, the mayor will be hosting a virtual town hall meeting to discuss the initiative, with a focus on parks and open spaces.

The Economic Restoration initiative will focus on developing a plan to restore the county's economy. The plan will on established businesses and also looking for new opportunities to enhance the county's economic structure. Business leaders, academics, and community leaders, will build on the One Community One Goal strategy that has been in place to recharge the economy and plan for how to county will react to similar situations in the future.
