What used to be a packed and lively street sits dozens of quiet and empty restaurants. Casa Sensei on Las Olas Boulevard is just one of the eateries on the strip that was forced to close during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The eatery sells Asian-fare with a Latin twist. However, the transition to take-out and delivery only hasn’t been easy for the family-owned restaurant.

“Casa Sensei is truly a destination dining eatery because we’re located in the heart of Las Olas, we’re right near the water. So, as we try to transition to take-out and delivery, as we try to get the word out, we have seen about a 90% decrease in sales,” said Victor Diaz, Managing Partner at Casa Sensei.

On any given weekday, Diaz had about 33 employees working behind his counter. When we went in, he only had 13.

“We’re truly relying on the kindness and generosity of the community and our customers to help soften that financial blow while we do keep our employees on the job,” said Diaz.

Diaz says they’re taking extra measures to keep their customers and employees safe.

“We are changing gloves constantly. We are wiping down and disinfecting high touch areas within the restaurant. We’re going a little bit beyond the requirements, but we just want to make sure that folks feel safe and that you can trust in the service we are providing,” said Diaz.

If you decide to call for pickup, Victor said he or the manager will bring your food to your car. For a look at the menu or for more information, head to CasaSensei.com.
