‘Jeopardy!’ contestant gives hilariously wrong final answer, still wins

CULVER CITY, Calif. — There’s nothing quite like game-show contestants who don’t know an answer– yet they go for it all, anyway.

One may remember the “Wheel of Fortune” player who continued to guess the same answer no matter how many times he was told it was wrong. Or perhaps the guy who gave maybe the creepiest answer in the history of game shows.

Not to be outdone,”Jeopardy!” contestant Choyon Manjrekar had such a big lead on  Monday night that when he didn’t know the answer to the Final Jeopardy question, he chose to clown around a bit.

The question:

“A Christian hymn and Jewish holiday hymn are both titled this, also the name of a Tony-nominated musical.”

Manjrekar’s answer:

“Kinky Boots.”

“Yes indeed, whenever people go to church or to temple, they sing, ‘Kinky Boots,'” joked host Alex Trebek.

To be fair, “Kinky Boots” is indeed a Tony-award winning musical. However, it is not a Christian or Jewish hymn.

The correct answer? “Rock of Ages,” or “Ma’oz Tzur.”

Despite the joke, Manjrekar won the game (and the crowd) with his answer.
