Who is Vandal Savage? A Look in to DC’s Legends of Tomorrow’s VILLAIN

Posted

Although it’s yet to be confirmed who will be portraying this dangerous immortal, that doesn’t mean we can’t take a break from the heroes and turn our focus on the man who’s aiming to destroy the time barrier as we know it.

Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome to the stage the supervillain before supervillains were cool, Vandal Savage.

Vandal Savage is an immortal, as mentioned before, and has been causing havoc and chaos on Earth even before the beginning of any recordings of human history. A brilliant tactician and war veteran, he uses his knowledge in technology and fighting to battle heroes of all types and times.

He’s literally fought hundreds of thousands of heroes throughout his existence in life.

Wondering how he became the immortal warlord he is? Don’t worry, we got that covered, too.

During the prehistoric times, 50,000 BC to be exact, Savage used to be a caveman who would go by the name of Vandar Adg, leader of the Cro-Magnon Blood Tribe. And one night, after a meteor shower, Savage slept near one of the crashed meteors and bathed in its radiation, resulting in him receiving heightened intellect and immortality. Similarly enough, a fellow tribesman would bathe in the radiation of the same meteor and become Savage’s new enemy, the Immortal Man.

Throughout history, Savage left his mark on history whenever the opportunity presented itself.

His first ever mark in history would occur when he and a group of people successfully overthrew rule and destroyed the lost underwater city of Atlantis. That group of people Savage worked with would later become known as the Illuminati.

Savage has claimed numerous times to have ruled numerous civilizations throughout time such as Khafre, Cheops, Alexander the Great, Julius Caesar, Genghis Khan, Blackbeard and Vlad the Impaler. And those are just a few names to throw out there! He’s been all around the world and has led attacks on Victorian era London disguised as Jack the Ripper!

He’s led the Spanish Armada during its attempt to invade England and was a court physician in France where he used the royal family for syphilis experiments.

Simply put, Savage has a pretty darn good resume.

Savage has always been a big villain when it comes to the Justice League. He shares a deep hatred towards superheroes and invading aliens. (Guess who in the Justice League just so happen to be aliens.)

Although the meteor has enhanced his life cycle and gives him quick healing abilities, he’s still vulnerable to external damage. For example, if Savage were to have a body limb cut off or removed from him, it would not be able to grow back.

Any Supernatural fans out there?

Well, Savage has been known to be called “Cain,” the first ever murderer. He wore the Mark of Cain for quite some time that disfigured his face until he passed it on to another warrior. Usually, the mark can be suppressed by willpower if recognized. However, Savage never realized this and tried to force it upon others.

With all of this power and all of this knowledge in his possession, Savage certainly proves to be a force to be reckoned with for the Legends of Tomorrow.

How, exactly? We won’t know until the time comes. And when the time comes, we’ll know it. (You know, some buildings might blow up and stuff.)

DC’s Legends of Tomorrow premieres in 2016 on SFL-TV, the CW!
