While she’s been entertaining South Floridians for nearly half a century, it may be time for Lolita to retire. The killer whale is a huge attraction at Miami Seaquarium, but animal rights activists have filed a lawsuit to have her relocated to a sanctuary.
The lawsuit claims that keeping Lolita captive violates the Endangered Species Act. If the lawsuit is successful, Lolita could be relocated to Washington State and will retire from performing, but she’ll be able to live near her family.
