Smoking the peace pipe on the reservation; now you can do it too!

FLANDREAU, SD - Last time the Santee Sioux Indian tribe made big news, they were blamed for the death of store clerk Andrew Myrick who wouldn’t give the starving Indians food, saying instead, "let them eat grass!" A few days later Myrick was found dead with grass stuffed in his mouth.

That was 1862.

Grass still seems an important theme to the tribe, although it's a slightly different kind of grass. The Santees are opening up the first marijuana resort on its reservation in South Dakota.

The tribe plans to grow their own pot and sell it in a smoking lounge that includes a nightclub, arcade games and a bar that serves food.

They want to create a playground for adults and hope other tribes will do the same.
