University of Louisville used escorts to recruit players?

Posted

When it comes to recruiting a winning team, how far would some people go to score?

One woman in Kentucky claims she was paid between 2010 and 2014 by former University of Louisville men's basketball team staffer, Andre McGee, to provide women escorts to have sex with players and recruits.

McGee's attorney Scott Cox denies the claims, "Andre McGee has told us that he is not guilty of these allegations, that he has never supplied a prostitute to a recruit or a player at the University of Louisville."

Katina Powell, the woman making the explosive claims, describes herself as a madam and has quite a story.

And she's laid it out in a book: "Breaking Cardinal Rules: Basketball and the Escort Queen."

Powell says she felt like she was part of the recruitment team, and claims she's the reason why many players went to Louisville.

Cardinals head basketball coach Rick Pitino says, "I've had players call me and tell me they were contacted by a person in the book and I asked them if they had any knowledge or any seen anything and the answer was absolutely nothing."

For now, the college and the NCAA are examining the allegations. And McGee, who's now an assistant coach at University of Missouri-Kansas City, has been placed on leave.

Alleged bad behavior off the court like this could have some people permanently benched and street walking for new jobs.
