Judge rejects Bindi Irwin’s DWTS contract, wants proof her father is dead

LOS ANGELES — Bindi Irwin‘s contract with “Dancing With The Stars” has reportedly been rejected because a judge wants proof that her father, Steve Irwin, is dead.

TMZ reports that Bindi is required to have a minor’s contract with the show because she is only 17. Her mother signed a form giving away rights to any money her daughter makes on “Dancing with the Stars,” and it was submitted to the L.A. Superior Court.

However, the judge said he wants the same release from Bindi’s dad. He says that without proof that Steve is dead, he would be unable to “find that it is in the best interest of the minor to be bound by the terms of the contract,” according to TMZ.

Irwin passed away at the age of 44 back in 2006.

The contract guarantees Bindi a base salary of $125,000 along with incremental raises the further she advances on the show. It’s currently week 8 of the competition, which means she has earned $230,000 so far.
