Hoop-er Duper Fans

Posted

It’s a great time to be a basketball fan in South Florida. The Heat are only a half-game out of first place in their division, and both the UM men’s and women’s basketball teams are ranked in the Top 25 in the country. Which begs the question, is it finally time for us to transition from a football town to a hoops town and what does that mean for the fans? Let’s compare.

Football fans eat bratwurst, basketball fans enjoy a nice lobster roll. Football fans do the wave and basketball fans wave at themselves while taking selfies. Football fans brave the elements. Basketball fans wear berets.... Football fans paint their faces. Basketball fans paint their nails.

But lest you think hoops fans are always classier, consider this: football fans fight each other while basketball fans sometimes fight the players. So you see, while being a basketball fan means you get to eat and dress better, you often still get to act like a jerk! And isn’t that what being a fan is all about?
