She's got a heart of Dixie... and her name's Dixie! She's a three-year-old Pitbull who's waiting to be adopted at Broward County Animal Care and Adoption.
Dixie's first family surrendered her to the shelter because their new landlord said she was too big. As Broward Animal Care's Lisa Mendheim explains in the video above, renters who are looking to adopt should "check with the landlords first before adopting a pet... and also read your lease so you have a good understanding of the terms."
Dixie would make a great addition to a home with kids because she's very playful, she especially loves playing with tennis balls. She does prefer to be the only dog in the house, though. If you want to adopt Dixie or any of the animals you see below, visit the shelter at 1870 SW 39th Street, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33315-3595.
