Fans of Prince recall what his music meant to them

Posted

HOUSTON, TX - "Life is just a party and parties weren't meant to last." Fitting words written by Prince more than 30 year ago. Today, we look back at this iconic artist's life and the legacy he leaves behind to his fans.

From his music, to his fashion and his recording perfection. Jerry Van was a personal assistant for Prince on many past tours. He learned early on how out going this musician was. Vann says,"He was really gregarious and very fun-loving. When it came to preparing for his show, everything had to be perfect. His wardrobe. His instrument. His backdrop, everything."

Prince broke new ground, every "high-heeled" step of the way. The man was clearly larger than life, but it's the music that first put Prince on the map. For many, the "Purple One" provided the soundtrack to their lives. So, can the music really be over? Not so, says the rumor mill. Joey Mains, from Cactus Music, says, "Apparently, he is the most recorded artist of all time. I've heard that he has albums lined up for when he was supposed to die." Vann agrees, "I wonder how much music he has in the can, that we haven't heard. Because he was creating all the time."

Life after death in song, not surprising, coming from an artist that so clearly was ahead of the times. Maybe there will be more party songs to groove onto in the future. If so, it's not goodbye prince, it's till we meet (or in this case) hear you again.
