CHANHASSEN, MN -  The doctor formerly known as Prince`s has been identified, and now investigators want to examine him.

According to TMZ, Dr. Michael Todd Schulenberg abruptly left the Minnesota clinic where he specialized in family medicine, but nobody`s saying why.

Schulenberg's medical records have been seized, including prescriptions he wrote for Prince. The doc apparently saw the singer the day before he died and even showed up to deliver test results on April 21,  only to learn Prince was already dead.

(Being a doctor to the stars may not be as glamorous as it sounds.)

Meanwhile, federal and local law enforcement agents carried out a massive search of the Paisley Park compound, where the late singer lived and died.

Nothing they`ve found has been made public. But we do know, prescription painkillers were on Prince and in his home following his sudden death. What role, if any they played, is not clear.  A lawyer has said Prince agreed to an intervention for painkiller addiction just hours before dying.

Schulenberg has a clean record and even has an MBA,  in addition to his MD. Too bad he doesn`t have a law degree, too. He might need it!
