TALLAHASSEE, FL - It just wouldn't be summer without a party...or a tropical storm...and voila now we have one!
Florida, meet Colin!
Yeah, this guy just couldn't wait to crash a party, so instead of coming midsummer or later, we have to deal with a tropical storm the first week in June.
Now, we all know the drill for this stormy visitor...have plenty of food and water on hand...and a battery-powered radio in case you lose power. (copious amounts of liquor may help, too!)
The Tampa-area felt the tropical party begin as they got a windy reception from "Colin" as the storm approached.
"We're expecting three to five inches of rain," Florida Governor Rick Scott declared. "As much as eight inches of rain around the state."
Governor Scott declared a State of Emergency in 34 counties for "Colin" and says much of the state will be impacted.
"You're gonna have risk of tornadoes, risk of hail," Scott predicted. "You're gonna have risk of lightning."
The Big Bend are and the panhandle area are getting the worst of it, but the storm will weave it's way across that "cone of uncertainty," so beware of the cone!
Hopefully, "Colin" will be a nice house-guest and not mess up the place as he passes through, but as we all know, Mother Nature's a fickle mistress!
