KALAMAZOO, MI - Surely you remember Lance Armstrong. He’s the guy who won seven consecutive Tour de France races, but was stripped of his victories after doping.
Well, we`ve got news for ya! Armstrong is back on a bike....for a cause.
It`s called Finish the Ride because that`s what nine cyclists did not get to do in Michigan a week ago.
After being hit from behind by a pick-up truck, five died and four were injured. Now, Armstrong will be among those who finish the 28.5 mile loop.
Meg Zapalowski is organizing this event. “It`s our opportunity to heal together, and it`s our opportunity to do it on a smaller scale - a more intimate scale - one where we can all lean on one another. It has blown my mind as to what a great community we have, and they`ve come out of the woodwork, you know, expressing their concern and expressing their love and their support for us.”
Armstrong said he was in total disbelief after hearing about the crash. Calling it “by far the worst I’ve ever seen.”
A 50-year-old man is facing second degree murder charges in connection with this tragedy. So, while cyclists` lives were cut short, the wheels of justice will keep spinning.
