PERM, RUSSIA - "The Russians are coming! The Russians are coming!"

Well, not really, but one Russian robot gave some folks quite a scare after he escaped from a lab in Russia.

But nothing to fear, this 'bot' isn't bent on destruction.

Although, this guy must have been programmed for "Democracy" because the first chance he had to bolt-- he made a mad dash for freedom!

The robot-- named 'Promobot' --actually escaped for about 40 minutes when an engineer forgot to close a gate at the lab.

While he was on the loose, the robot managed to reach a nearby street but that's when disaster struck.

Well, at least a disaster for his free-styling ways.

Yeah, the robot's battery ran out, and the machine froze in his tracks....right in the middle of a busy street.

Ah, but the traffic jam didn't last long since a technician quickly showed up and whisked the robot away.

The company says the robot was designed to navigate through public crowds and answer general questions, but in this case the machine took over.

Although some think this was just a publicity stunt, you never know if it's the first sign of an impending robot revolution!
