The newly opened Havana 1957 Ocean Drive gives South Florida foodies yet another fun spot to enjoy the restaurant chain’s classic Cuban cuisine, transporting guests to 1950 Havana! Sofla foodies may already be familiar with with Havana 1957’s locations at The Shops at Pembroke Gardens, Brickell, Española Way and Lincoln Road.
Our Street Team had a chance to check out the Ocean Drive restaurant and review some of its highly recommended dishes!
First up, apps!
Our favorite so far, “Tostones Rellenos Havana 1957!” You get to try a little bit of everything with this one. It’s an assortment of four green plantain cups each stuffed with something different. There’s the garlic shrimp, shredded roasted chicken, ground beef and our personal favorite… the ropa vieja cup!

Then, there’s the restaurant’s ceviche app! This day boat fish is marinated in Florida citrus, coconut milk, aji amarillo and served with boniato. What we liked about this dish was its juice!
Now for the main course…
Highly recommended by our server was the Havana 1957 Specialty! The flavor on this family traditional roasted chicken in Cuban gravy is delicious! It’s served traditionally with white rice, black beans, sweet plantains (also excellent), and a side salad.
For seafood lovers, we sampled the Enchilado De Mariscos, a lobster tail and shrimp combo. Again, served traditionally with white rice, sweet plantains and also a side salad. Instead of black beans, this dish is served in a Creole sauce with onions and peppers.
