Preparing for the 2019 Hurricane Season

Hurricane season goes from June 1 – November 30. Take charge of your safety by making a hurricane plan ahead of time and stocking up on vital supplies.

Emergency Checklist

  • Shopping Checklist
    • Water
    • Portable camp stove or grill
    • Stove fuel or charcoal, lighter fluid
    • Disposable plates, cups, and utensils
    • Napkins and paper towels
    • Aluminum foil
  • Equipment and Other Items
    • Manual can opener
    • Flashlight (one per person)
    • Portable battery powered lanterns
    • Glass enclosed candles (only use after storm)
    • Trash bags
    • Battery powered radio or ATSC TV
    • Battery powered cell phone charger
    • Extra batteries
    • First aid kit (including aspirin, antibiotic cream and antacids)
    • Sunscreen
    • Waterproof matches/butane lighter
    • Cash
    • Bleach or water purification tablets
    • Collapsible water containers

  • Pets
    • Crate or carrier large enough for the animal to stand and turn around
    • Two-week supply of food, water, and required medications
    • Bowls (food and water)
    • Cat litter and liter box
    • Toys and/or blanket
    • Treats
    • Photo of you with your pet (to prove you are the owner)
    • Rabies certificate and current license
    • Veterinarian name and emergency contact information
    • Cleaning supplies (newspaper, plastic bags, paper towels. etc), litter scooper
    • Training/Wee Wee pads
