It’s a melody making masterpiece inside Angel Marchese’s varsity chorus class at Robert Morgan Education Center. And it all starts with a very dynamic warmup session.
"So the kids start class with some physical and vocal warmups to allow the kids to relax and mentally and physically prepare for the singing, and it really helps with camaraderie and team building," said Mr. Marchese.
The students compete in several tournaments throughout the year and are preparing to perform at graduation, and they work hard to sound this good, but when they nail it, it’s all worth it.
"It is a marathon not a sprint, and some of these kids have been in my class now for four years, so it takes a lot of practice, and a lot of work, and a lot of not very fun things to make a great performance and great musicians. I just look at their faces at the end of a performance to know that they didn't just impact the audience but they also impacted themselves and that's a great feeling all-around," said Marchese.
Mr Marchese is Robert Morgan’s reigning teacher of the year. And it’s not just because he’s an expert educator. He’s also beloved as by the students and the faculty.
"I think that one of the things that students like is his personality, he has a very funny side to him, he's very humorous, but at the same time he's very focused and very driven to be the best," said Reginald Fox, Principal at Robert Morgan Education Center.
"What makes him such a great teacher is that he spends so much time with us, and he dedicates almost his entire life to us. I think he loves us all, even though we are stubborn. He's a really good teacher and he inspires all of us in different ways. I know, me personally, I have been with him for four years, so this is my last year here with him, and I'm definitely gonna come back and visit him, he has become a really good friend to me," said Kyleigh Carr, the President of The Choir Academy.
So give it up for Angel Marchese, a music man who’s in tune with his students. He’s this week’s super teacher and the recipient of two passes to Universal Orlando Resort.
