As the nation continues to grapple with COVID-19, flu season is upon us. This year, these companies have teamed up to offer free flu vaccinations in our community.
Global nonprofit, United Way improves lives by mobilizing the caring power in communities across the world. This year the united way of Broward county. 211 Broward, Walgreens, and Familywize have partnered up in giving free flu shots for people in need in our community.
"This is an initiative started by United Way Worldwide, our parent company, and they have a long-standing relationship with Familywize and they (Familywize) are very gracious to sponsor flu shots during this time, during Flu season. Our partnership with 211 Broward has been longstanding, we fund 211 Broward with our health initiatives and it just came together perfectly. And it's just a good opportunity for our residents in Broward," states Janine Ribeiro, VP of Community Impact, United Way of Broward County.
The free flu vaccine voucher is available to anyone 18 and older and who is uninsured or unable to afford the vaccine. You can request the voucher by calling 211 Broward.
"When they call 211 Broward, they are going to talk to one of our helpline counselors. And how our helpline counselors are going to help the client is they are going to register them with Familywize and Familywize is going to send them a voucher electronically to their email," says Francisco Isaza, Cheif Operations Officer, 211 Broward.
During this flu season, the vaccine is essential to help prevent the spread of COVID-19. And for United Way of Broward County, its mission is to help residents get access to healthcare.
"Is really and truly ensuring that the Broward County residents have access to all of their health needs. This is just one of the initiatives that we are partnering with Familywize and 211 Broward to promote our overall mission," said Ribeiro
