Every week on Inside South Florida we highlight an organization doing good in our community. This week Miriam highlights Jack and Jill, a non-profit that strengthens children and families through innovative education. And this year, they're hosting their 16th annual Flip Flops on the Docks event
For over 79 years, the Jack and Jill center has served more than 20,000 children and families in South Florida through supportive programming and community engagement. The group also provides early education for children from 6-weeks to 5-years-old.
Heather Siskind, CEO, says the group serves over 300 children a year through their elementary schools and family assistance programs. A new elementary school is being built now to accommodate even more families, which will receive some of the funds raised at Flip Flops on the Docks. Doors open this year on June 21.
The annual event takes place at the Fort Lauderdale Yacht Club, on May 8th at 6:30. Although this year it will be a little different due to the pandemic, it will still be just as amazing.
Tickets are available for the general public, but special VIP tickets will get you some extra special treats and drinks. The center raises over $2 million a year to stay functioning and continue to help families. If you want to donate or buy tickets, click here.
