She's the pride and joy of Miami, and now she's doing big things on the West coast with Fox Sports. Joy Taylor can be seen daily on the wildly popular show, The Herd, with her co-host Colin Cowherd. She can also be heard on her new podcast, Maybe I'm Crazy. Taylor spoke with us about all the changes in her life, and how she still has love for the Sunshine State.
Taylor went to school at Barry University and lived in Miami for 10 years before traveling to L.A. When she first went to Fox in 2016, she knew she wanted to start a podcast but wanted to make sure it was a product worth putting out there for her fans. She describes herself as a free-spirit, who may be a little crazy time to time, hence the name.
This podcast isn't exclusively about sports. Taylor touches on things happening through out the culture, especially Black Culture.
"It's important to me because that's my experience," she says. "It's important to have a voice to speak for and represent my community to the world."
You might recognize Taylor from the South Florida staple radio shows she's been on, including DJ Laz in the Morning and Y100. Now at Fox Sports, she says she's been able to continue her career in radio which is where she's always wanted to work.
For those looking to join the industry but not sure how to take the first step, she says to just do it.
"There's no better time than now," she says. "I think the pandemic has taught all of us that we're all going to have to keep pivoting in life...The one thing that's certain in life is change."
