As Summer quickly approaches everyone is focusing on how to have fun safely, and while looking their best. The best way to do this is by making making small changes here and there rather than overriding your entire routine. Founder of Smashfit, Heather Frey, gives us some tips on how to adopt healthy eating habits that you won't give up on.
Frey says your fitness is 100% mental, and your body will take you where your mind goes. Thinking of lifestyle changes as restrictions can put you in the wrong mindset for sticking with your goals.
The best place to start making these changes can be as simple as not eating something you know is bad for you. This prepares you for those cravings you might get. Frey says the prepackaged meals and produce are just as good for you, and it can encourage you to eat them since there isn't a long prep time.
The next thing, drive by the drive-thru. Just keep on going until you get to the grocery store so you can get better choices and more options. Don't let yourself starve either! Packing a little lunch box you can go to during the day for healthy snacks to keep you satiated will help you stay away from things like fast food and sweets.
Frey says the biggest thing is to remember to hydrate. Especially in the South Florida heat and sunshine it's easy to get dehydrated. An easy way to do this is three water bottles a day, morning, noon and night.
