Local Girl Scouts recently handed out Gold Awards to their High School seniors who made an impact in their communities. Normally these girls would’ve been honored during a big celebration, but this year things were limited to a curbside pinning ceremony because of the Coronavirus.
We’re highlighting two Gold Award Girl Scouts who launched projects that made a difference in their communities. Daphne Cholodofsky’s project collected recipes from senior citizens and Madeleine Gonzalez’s project pre-registered fellow high schoolers to vote.
Cholodofsky says of her senior citizen recipe project, “during these hard times it’s more important than ever to reach out to the elderly in our community and to make them feel valued, loved and appreciated.”
Gonzalez says of getting 16-year-old high schoolers to pre-register to vote, “during this time of social distancing it’s especially helpful that you can register online. Go to www.registertovoteflorida.gov.”
