Meet Brett Rose.
Brett is an entrepreneur in Fort Lauderdale.
Last year, his life was forever changed.
After a COVID-safe staycation with his family in the Florida Keys, Brett was bit by a mosquito carrying the West Nile Virus. The bit caused brett a rash and developed a severe illness affecting the central nervous system.
And lost his ability to walk.
Today he’s fortunate to share his story with us thanks to the great people at Memorial Regional Hospital.
“I don’t think you fully understand the concept of changes on a dime until it happens to you. I went to bed on a Friday night not feeling good and woke up Saturday morning paralyzed from the chest down, I immediately got rushed to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood and woke up a week later in the ICU.
When I woke up, I had not regained use of the lower half of my body. It takes a village truly and everybody at Memorial really personified, not only the commitment to the physical side but, the whole aspect of it,” stated Rose
It was important for Brett to give back to the memorial healthcare system who has helped him so much.
So he began to train for Joe DiMaggio's Children's 12 annual Tour de Broward event, which is a virtual 3k.
Brett has raised over $17,000 to the charity.
Click the video to see how he trained, who helped him, and a piece of advice he would give Tiger Woods who is going through somewhat a similar situation.
