George Freedmon volunteered with Meals on Wheels South Florida for 15 years, seeing first hand how important this service was to the people who use it. Now, he gets the meals himself from one of his longtime co-volunteers.
Judy Good knew she wanted to volunteer with the program after she watched her grandmother and mother benefit from it. When she retired she joined the group, and has been with them for 14 years.
When Freedmon started getting Meals on Wheels himself, Good was a familiar face there to take him his deliveries. The two used to deliver meals together, but lost contact after Freedmon stopped volunteering due to a car accident. When he signed up to get the meals, they were able to reconnect.
Meals on Wheels is always looking for volunteers to deliver more meals to more people. If you're interested you can head to their website to join the volunteer process.
