The CW is rolling out another exciting, action packed show tonight. Rather than just reviving the story from the 1970s hit, this version flips the story upside down and brings on an Asian-American cast.
The modern-day take on the story is set San Francisco's China Town, focusing on an Asian-American family. Tza Ma, who play Jin Chen, says being able to see an Asian-American family on prime time TV in a drama is ground breaking.
"I don't think we should shy away from that word, groundbreaking, cause we're breaking some ground," he said.
Oliva Liang plays Nicky Chen, is the star of the show, who drops out of college to travel to China and learn martial arts at a monastery. When she returns, she finds that an organized crime group has taken hold of her parents. Nicky uses the skills she learned to protect her parents, and her hometown.
Ma says the show can also bridge the gaps in knowledge about Asian-Americans. He hopes the show will be able to teach people some new things, and clear up any misconceptions.
