Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood hung the jersey of local baseball star Anthony Rizzo in honor of his recent $1 million donation.
Rizzo also spent quality time with young cancer patients during his special visit.
As a cancer survivor himself, Rizzo provided strength and inspiration to these kids.
"These are the darkest times, it was the darkest time of my life as far as my health. It makes me so appreciative now to be out of it and I tell that to them [Young cancer patients] too. You just got to be big and strong, and to keep fighting," said Rizzo.
Rizzo, who helped the Cubs win the 2016 World Series, is originally from Parkland and he continues to give back to his community. He’s also provided support to the survivors of the Parkland shooting in his Alma mater, Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.
