The South Beach Wine and Food Festival is right around the corner!

Starting on February 19th, the five-day festival benefits FIU’s Chaplin School of Hospitality and Tourism Management. To date the festival has raised more than $30 million.

Dozens of chefs will be participating in the events, including Chef Juan Borjas from the Spillover in Coconut Grove. He’ll be serving his version of the “Frita Burger” at Burger Bash, a Friday night event that’s all about beef.

The "Frita Burger" consists of chopped meat and chorizo, drenched in red mojo sauce, topped with onions then placed in between two buttered buns with mayo, ketchup, and two pieces of guava.

Melissa Marrero samples the burger.

"This is so good, how did you come up with this, it has so much flavor," said Marrero.

"I wanted to represent South Florida," said Chef Borjas.

After Burger Bash [on Friday the 21st], head to the late-night party hosted by Michael Schwartz, Sliced: A Genuine Pizza Party. The party is in honor of his new cookbook.

"You're hosting your first pizza party, how exciting," said Marrero.

"It's everyone's favorite time of the year. For me, it's about connecting with old friends and meeting new people. I'm super excited and then of course to host the pizza party, the first one, it's great," said Schwartz.

Marrero joins Chef Michael in the kitchen to make the pizza he'll be serving at the event that Friday night, starting at 10pm. Click on the video to see more.
