Broward county has closed all non-essential retail and commercial businesses as of Monday amid the coronavirus outbreak.
As it is in Miami-Dade county, grocery stores, media outlets, banks, pharmacies and other essential businesses will remain open.
"While these are incredibly painful steps to take with devastating short term and long term impacts on our community," said mayor Dale V.C. Holness, "The potential impact of COVID-19 on residents and visitors is much more devastating."
