Broward County Outlines Penalties for Businesses Ignoring Safety Measures

In a response to the recent spike in coronavirus cases in Florida, Broward county announced penalties for businesses who don't comply with reopening guidelines.

County Administrator Bertha Henry signed the emergency order announcing the changes on Wednesday, which goes into effect on Friday.

Any businesses that are caught breaking the rules will have to immediately close for 24 hours. After if they review the rules and bring everything up to code, the county will inspect the location once again within five days to make sure everything is fixed.

Residents can help this process by reporting any violations to MyBroward.Broward.org. Select “Request for Service,” enter the location of the violation, and select “COVID-19 Business Complaints” as the type of issue. You can also call the County Call Center at 311 or 954-831-4000.
