Miami-Dade Creates Emergency Rental Assistance Program to Help Renters During Pandemic

Miami-Dade county announced that it will be opening applications for the Emergency Rental Assistance Program to help families pay rent that have been impacted by COVID-19.

The program will provide a one-time benefit to assist with one month’s rent. The amount will be based on the size of the rental and the monthly rent payment.

In order to qualify those applying must earn no more than 80% of the County Area Median Income, have a current lease signed by a landlord in Miami-Dade County, not be a recipient of other rental assistance programs such as Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher, Public Housing, Veteran Affairs Supportive Housing, Home Investment Partnership Program, or Emergency Solutions Grant, and have documentation showing that COVID-19 has created a financial hardship and lowered the household income.

Applications open on Tuesday and can be can be submitted online until 5 p.m. Friday. There will also be paper applications that can be picked up and dropped off at the following locations;

Completed paper applications must include photocopies of the required verification documentation. Original documents will not be accepted.
