With South Florida reopening under the new normal that is phase 1 starting May 18th, it’s back to business for some who have already reopened their doors this week following a long and trying Coronavirus quarantine. Miami-Dade Mayor Carlos Gimenez began the week by attending a barber shop in Miami Lakes and a Sergio’s restaurant in Kendall.

"I'm very happy and I'm very happy also for the owners there, getting back to business and being able to put food on the table for their families," said the mayor.

At Lincoln Road Mall, they’re observing the new norm guidelines and they’re even offering free stylish face masks designed by a local artist.

Timothy Schmand of the Lincoln Road Business Improvement District says uses of facial masks will be requested; not required as Lincoln Road Mall will slowly reopen under a specific timetable.

"The city has authorized the reopening of non-essential retail and salons on May 20th. Restaurants are authorized to open on May 27th," said Schmand.

Lincoln road will have “ambassadors” cleaning and sanitizing day and night.
