Volunteers with Meals on Wheels South Florida, like Judy Good, wake up early every Wednesday to deliver meals to seniors in need.

“I’ve been delivering meals for Meals on Wheels for 14 years now,” said Judy.

Judy was inspired to start volunteering after she saw her mother and grandmother benefited from home-delivered meal services.

“My grandmother lived in California. She received meals, whether it was from Meals on Wheels, [I’m not sure but] my mother in Michigan received Meals on Wheels so when I retired, this is what I’m going to do,” she said.

George Freedman was a volunteer for 15 years.

“I saw the way these people were waiting for it. Every Wednesday, we’d be coming with the meals and you could see how grateful they were. It was a wonderful thing,” said George.

Now, George is on the receiving end after losing his car in an accident.

“I see the way they felt, is the way I feel right now,” he said.

“When he stopped delivering, I lost contact with him until he became a client. So it was nice to see him again,” said Judy.
