Shoppers at the Just Between Friends Kids Consignment store are here to find necessities for their kids at a good price.

“I was furloughed from my position so coming here to get anything as my kids grow is helpful just to find reasonable prices and not have to spend a fortune on what they want. And the holidays are coming up soon,” said Laurie Hapgood, shopper.

“We have to watch our pennies with things that are happening. It’s a great way to recycle and get some nice treasures,” said Lisa Caspanello, shopper.

The store, located inside the Davie Shopping Center at 5595 South University Drive, opened on Tuesday.

Samone Gibson, sales coordinator, says hundreds of people showed up.

“I think because the need is so great we’re getting more shoppers than we ever had before. We’ve never opened on a Tuesday and for the first time this year, people were waiting at the door even before we got there,” said Samone.

Shoppers get great deals and and consigners make money. A win-win for both parties.

“As you can imagine with COVID, there’s been interruptions of income so this is a great way for moms and dads to consign their children’s gently used items and earn money. Typically our average consigner can earn anywhere from $250-$350 in just a weekend,” added Samone.

The items range from as low as $1 to $400 but keep your eyes on the higher priced items because there’s a sale next weekend. Starting on October 30th, items without the printed star on the label, will be at 25% off and on October 31st, they’ll be at 50% off.

Items that aren’t sold will be donated.

“If they’ve marked it for donation, we’re going to send it to our local charity which is the Countyline Church of God in West Lake. So they come in at the end of the sale, they help us break all the inventory down and take it to the church to help children in need,” said Samone.

The store is open today until the 25th and then from the 29th to the 31st.
