Sofia Arencibia has been dancing since she was three years old.
“I grew up dancing here and its my first love. It’s all I’ve ever known. It’s taught me so much like dance and how to be a good person,” said Sofia, owner and teacher at Artistic Dance Center.
That passion turned into a career. Sofia was one of the first students to train at Artistic Dance Center in Doral at just five years old. Now- she’s the director and owner of the studio. She acquired Artistic Dance Center in 2019, just before the pandemic hit.
“When the pandemic hit, [I was like] what am I going to do? I was still learning how to run a business and [on top of that I had to learn] how to run a new business in a whole new way. I [got] a lot of help and guidance [from] Elizabeth, the previous owner, and we got through it” said Sofia.
After much success through virtual dance and eventually in-person classes for young dancers, Sofia launched SoFit305 for adults. Class options include pilates, yoga and dance fitness.
“I wanted to offer fitness classes to adults who have dance or no dance experience at all who want to dance and have fun while they’re exercising,” said Sofia.
Sofia’s looking for 4-6 instructors with the same passion she has for dance and fitness, to join her team.
“I’m originally from Instabul, Turkey. So that’s where I started my dancing journey,” said Didem Saglam.
Didem also started dancing at a very young age. She’s not new to ADC but is a recent hire for the new program and will be teaching yoga and adult ballet.
“It’s a great opportunity where you can learn and grow. And I would recommend [to candidates] to be themselves and show up as their best selves,” said Didem.
Sofia says she attributes all of her success in dance and training to ADC and hopes to carry on the legacy of the company for the next generation.
“With everything going on, there’s so much chaos in the world, that I think it’s a great way to have fun and release,” said Sofia.
Sofia says the classes are limited for safety reasons and everyone is required to wear a mask.
