The leisure and hospitality industry is rebounding after a historic low occupancy at U.S. hotels. One hotel on Miami Beach is not only proving their resilience amid a pandemic, they’re also hiring.
“We really didn’t expect to be this busy, but it’s been amazing,” said recent hire, Jewel Machen.
According to STR, a company that provides market data on the hotel industry worldwide, Miami’s occupancy levels hit well above the U.S. average in recent months. Jewel says he’s seen occupancy tick up steadily over the three months he’s worked there.
“When you ask guests, a lot of people are coming down from the north to get some sun,” added Jewel.
High volume of customers means more protocols to ensure safety.
“We are required to wear masks, we practice social distancing and we also have different sanitizing stations around. Our particular station in the front desk, we sanitize every 30 minutes or so,” said Jewel.
To help serve the high demand of customers, The Confidante is hiring 30 employees.
“We have housekeeping positions available, front desk associates available, and lots of positions both in front of the house and back of the house of our brand new restaurant Ambersweet,” said Director of Commercial Services, Carolyn McCammon.
The Confidante is part of The Unbound Collection of Hyatt, which has over a dozen properties around the world. Carolyn says employees can benefit from all the great things Hyatt has to offer.
“I think it’s really important for us to make sure that people understand that if you work hard and you are dedicated to our purpose of care, which is really what Hyatt’s mission, that you are the right fit for this hotel and for a long-term career with Hyatt,” said Carolyn.
“In the three months that I’ve been here, I’ve seen tremendous growth from within so I think that’s absolutely amazing,” said Jewel.
The Confidante is located at 4041 Collins Avenue in Miami Beach. For more information on the positions available and to apply, click here.
