It’s been over six months since the pandemic hit and we know many of you have lost your jobs. To help, we’re highlighting companies that are hiring every week.
Montys Raw Bar in Coconut Grove is looking to hire 10-15 employees.
“We’re hiring for servers, bartenders, hostess, and bus boys. ,” said Juan Barretta, general manager at Montys Raw Bar.
According to Juan, they’re hiring because they’re always busy. The restaurant is one of the few that mainly offers outdoor seating, and a lot of it.
Before the pandemic, Montys used to sit 600 people. Now, they’re seating around 300 while still following social distancing guidelines.
“We have distanced all of our tables, so no one is closer than six feet. We are seating no more than 6 people per table and we’re making sure everyone wears their mask as soon as they leave their table,” said Juan.
“We have a doctor that keeps up with us everyday, even on our days off. They’re always checking if we’re okay,” said Sabrina Bovo, recent hire at Montys Raw Bar.
Sabrina was hired about a month ago. She says she was let go right when the pandemic hit and was out of work for three months but she didn’t give up.
“I know restaurant we’re opening again but just outside seating, so I was searching up restaurants with outside seating and Montys popped up,” said Sabrina.
Even though those three months felt like an eternity for Sabrina, she sends a message of hope for those in the hospitality industry.
“It’s very hard, especially for a lot of people now. Our whole world changed. You have to go day by day and everything’s going to fall into place. When you work at a place you feel comfortable at, it’s ok. It’s been very great,” added Sabrina.
Juan says along with the socially distant tables, every worker is required to wear a mask and a face shield to keep both employees and customers safe.
