The coronavirus has taken a toll on U.S. employment but companies in South Florida continue to announce new jobs and are hiring now, including a nationwide security company that has three branches right here in South Florida.

An uptick in services needed by a security company in South Florida has opened many doors for the unemployed. Allied Universal is looking for about 250 employees spread across Miami, Fort Lauderdale and West Palm Beach.

“We have entry level positions for folks that are looking for stable growth with nice career opportunities, but they maybe don’t have security experience. They can start in one of our entry level positions and we will teach them. We also have more experienced positions where we require somebody with prior military or law enforcement experience,” said Jason Zigman, VP of Recruiting at Allied Universal East Division.

Jason says Allied Universal is North America’s largest security services company.

“We provide security services and security technology solutions. So in the way of man-guarding that would actually be security professionals who typically uniformed out in the street. They’re responsible for access control, who’s allowed to get in and out of the building. We also provide technology solutions. So if we want to go touchless for entering a building and using technology to do that, we provide the services and technology to do that as well,” said Jason.

“It is recession proof. We have been working since COVID hit. Security is going to keep on growing and it’s an amazing company to join,” said Daniel Obando, Supervisor at Allied Universal Miami.

Daniel works at the Miami branch as a supervisor. He started four months ago.

“They have me supervising 8-10 employees. Making sure that they’re okay and making sure that their uniforms are okay. When it comes to clients as well, we have to treat them with respect. You always have to be a people person, going in with a good attitude,” said Daniel.

Daniel says he sees himself growing within the company.

“There are a lot of regions and districts they cover. I see myself growing. I’ve spoken with a lot of managers and I get a lot of good feedback,” added Daniel

“We require somebody with good customer service skills. Somebody who’s able to communicate and speak with the public. People will strong communication skills tend to do really well in our organization,” said Jason.

Allied Universal has been around for over 60 years. Jason told me they do offer benefits for full-time employees. For a look at the job openings and qualifications, click here.
